Positive Wellbeing & Mental Health for children with Dyspraxia/DCD

We are excited to tell you about the third event in our series of talks "Positive Wellbeing & Mental Health for children with Dyspraxia/DCD" presented by Occupational Therapist and Teacher Stephen Hodnett

This webinar provides families with ideas and strategies to help develop and promote positive wellbeing and mental health for children with Dyspraxia/DCD. The webinar focuses on enabling families to help children develop health-promoting skills such as positive problem solving and coping strategies to foster independent self-management and regulation.

This webinar will also look at strategies to help children manage and balance areas including self-care, productivity and leisure in their own lives.

  • Self-esteem and self-image 
  • Breathing, stretching and meditation for children 
  • Reflection and appreciation of strengths 
  • Balancing success vs struggle 
  • Incorporating growth mindset into day-to-day life 

Stephen is a qualified occupational therapist and primary school teacher. Stephen has over 10 years’ experience of working with children, families and educators in both mainstream and SEN school settings. 

Stephen has worked with Dyspraxia/DCD Ireland and their members in recent times on a number of projects, including the facilitation of the ‘Our say in our schools’ resource for schools from the perspective of children with Dyspraxia/DCD, which was launched in November 2021.  
 
Stephen has also presented numerous courses and webinars around the country on the topic of Dyspraxia/DCD for schools and for parents.
